But generally, if you’re not using a crazy weird set, then this rule of thumb is pretty accurate. There are always going to be minor differences from guitar to guitar and different sets of strings too. The fourth string lines up with the 2nd and string width for 5 and 6. The mathematical way to intonate is scale length for 1st string, then width of string for 2nd and 3rd. Unless you’re using a set of strings that has a huge difference from the B to G string, then the saddle should be about the width of the string further back from the second saddle.
